Dear readers, friends and family,

There are  advances in medicine being made every day with alternative health care. This is an article that was just brought to my attention and I  am so excited to share it with you.  But, first I want to explain a bit about homoeopathy if you are not familiar with that form of medicine.

  • Homoeopathy is a form of alternative medicine, first proposed by German physician Samuel Hahnemann in 1796, that attempts to treat patients with heavily diluted preparations which are claimed to cause effects similar to the symptoms presented.
  • Homeopathy is the second most widely used system of medicine in the world. Its growth in popularity in the United States has been around 25 to 50 percent a year throughout the last decade.
  • Homoeopathy is summed up by the the time honored phrase “Like cures like.”
  • Homeopathic remedies are prepared by serial dilution with shaking by forceful striking, which homeopaths term “succussion,” after each dilution under the assumption that this increases the effect of the treatment. Homeopaths call this process “potentization.” Dilutions often continue until none of the original substance remains.
  • For example, if the symptoms of your cold are similar to poisoning by mercury, then  a diluted remedy of mercury would be your homeopathic remedy.
  • Minimal Dose is taken-The remedy is taken in an extremely dilute form; normally one part of the remedy to around 1,000,000,000,000 parts of water.
  • Only a Single Remedy is used,  no matter how many symptoms are experienced, only one remedy is taken, and that remedy will be aimed at all those symptoms.
  • Similar principals forms the basis of conventional allergy treatment, where the allergic substance is given in a small dose, and in vaccines where an impotent form of the virus is given to bolster the immune system against that particular virus.

Dear Practitioners,

Some of you may be aware of the recent paper published in the February 2010 International Journal of Oncology, entitled, “Cytotoxic effects of ultra-diluted remedies on breast cancer cells.” This study showed that four homeopathic remedies were demonstrated to induce apoptosis (programmed cell death) in breast cancer cell lines in the lab. This study, completed at The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, is a ground-breaking study that not only identified the effect of the homeopathics but the potential mechanisms of action in one of the most thorough and interesting studies ever done on Homeopathics. You can read the abstract and buy the article if you are interested at the following link:

The study is significant and covers almost 9 pages of analysis, graphs, and mechanism of actions of the homeopathics. For example, here is a quote from the study:

The remedies (the homeopathics) exerted preferential cytotoxic effects against the two breast cancer cell lines, causing cell cycle delay/arrest and apoptosis. These effects were accompanied by altered expression of the cell cycle regulatory proteins, including downregulation of phosphorylated Rb and upregulation of the CDK inhibitor p27, which were likely responsible for the cell cycle delay/arrest as well as induction of the apoptotic cascade that manifested in the activation of caspase 7 and cleavage of PARP in the treated cells.

We constantly talk about the power of homeopathics to upregulate and downregulate which the researchers concluded was the primary mechanism of action. This not only solidifies the potential action, but creates a powerful principle that can be applied to almost any bodily function as you work with patients.

Although there are a tremendous number of interesting data in this study, I will leave you with one last quote from the study:

Interestingly, the cytotoxic effects of two of the remedies investigated in this study, carcinosin and Phytolacca, appear similar to the activity of .12uM of paclitaxel (Taxol), the most commonly used chemotherapeutic drug for breast cancer, when it was tested in the two adenocarcinoma cell lines investigated in this study in parallel experiments

Yes, they tested the leading Chemotherapeutic agent against the homeopathics and noted the effects were similar.

If you are unfamiliar with M.D. Anderson, it is the leading hospital on cancer research and treatament in the Midwest.

We all know that food is fuel for our bodies, without food we die. And we know that eating the wrong foods can make us sick and case diseases like cardiovascular disease, hyperlipidemia, fibromyalgia, and diabetes just to name a few. These disease can be cause by eating a diet high in calories, high in hydrogenated fat, high in sugar and high in processed food. Basically eating the wrong food can cause disease, illness,   accelerate the aging process and decrease our quality of life.
But did you know that  common foods like dairy, soy, eggs,  peanuts, wheat and strawberries could potentially cause a reaction in our bodies and cause illness.

  • Allergic dermatitis (itchy rash) is the most common skin condition in children younger than 11 years of age. The percentage of children diagnosed with it has increased from 3% in the 1960s to 10% in the 1990s.
  • Atopic dermatitis is one of the most common skin diseases, particularly in infants and children. The estimated prevalence in the United States is 9%. The prevalence of atopic dermatitis appears to be increasing.

Educating oneself and your child is the first and most important step to take in understanding your child’s food and environmental allergies. Regarding food allergies in particular, much information and mis-information exists. The following includes an overview of food and environmental allergies and information concerning a number of related issues, such as eczema and anaphylaxis. As you read and learn, please remember that every child is unique and situations differ from person to person. It is imperative to seek the advice of a knowledgeable physician as self-diagnosis and treatment is potentially dangerous. In good health,
