Day 18 Detox & Cleanse

Detox & Cleanse Informationon February 21, 2013Leave a Comment

Welcome to Day 18!

As we have indicated over the last several days, you should really be enjoying this part of the program. You should be feeling great, experiencing energy levels you may not have experienced for many years, and you should find that as many as 70% of the symptoms you experienced before embarking on this purification have now disappeared or at least minimized.

While we are discussing how great you feel, let us pose a question? Have you found this program to be of benefit to you? If so, then why in the world are you not screaming this from the rooftops and telling all of your friends to go see Dr. Heather Cardin? Are you embarrassed? Why not share your success and become an inspiration to your friends and family.

We want to stress that this is not about the money. This is about people’s lives. People do not realize just how toxic they are or how wonderful they can feel by purging those toxins from their body. Please, tell someone you care about how this program has changed your life and make a difference in his or hers. Trust us, they’ll thank you!

How Should I Feel Today?
You should continue to feel wonderful today. As always, if you have questions about something that is concerning you, please contact Dr. Heather Cardin at askdrheather.net

Weight Loss
Have you tried adding some time in the sauna to your workout? Remember, sweating is the key to releasing those toxins and shedding those pounds. Stay hydrated and make sure you are working up a sweat. If you are walking on a treadmill for 30 minutes, but barely breaking a sweat, you are not receiving a good workout. The key is to sweat, sweat, sweat!

Reminders
Remember to fill out your Daily Intake Journal in your Purification Booklet and note how you are feeling. It is important that you develop this habit now, as you will want to continue this beyond the program as you reintroduce other foods into your diet. This is an important part of identifying what foods might possibly be making you feel bad or that you might be allergic to.

Day 17 Detox & Cleanse

Detox & Cleanse Informationon February 20, 2013Leave a Comment

Welcome to Day 17!

An important part of maintaining the results you achieve from the program is continuing the process you have started of a healthy diet and good supplementation. Those are the two components we are going to discuss today.

Healthy Diet

These days it seems that there is a new ‘fad diet’ popping up almost daily. So, what diet should you choose? We recommended the Low-Carb Mediterranean Type Diet. Many diets you are familiar with are actually variations based on this diet. For more information about how and what to eat, download the reference sheet below.

Good Supplementation

In a perfect world we would be eating all the right nutrient-dense foods, freshly grown, without chemicals or additives. However, between what is available to Americans today and what we choose to eat, our diets are actually quite lacking in the nutrients we need to be healthy. Therefore, an important part of ensuring you are receiving the nutrition you need each day is good supplementation.

How Should I Feel Today?
You have reached the ‘good’ part of the program where you should have been feeling great for the past several days and that feeling should continue today.

Weight Loss
Make sure you are limiting your fruit and meat intake and focusing on your vegetables. With just 5 days more you want to make sure that you are maintaining the good eating habits you have developed over the last couple of weeks.

Reminders
Plan ahead for the completion of the program. Please don’t think that you will be able to adopt your old habits and still maintain the results you have achieved. Start thinking now about the changes you will make in your everyday life.

Recipe of the Day
Garlic Salmon Fillets
Ingredients:

  • Salmon fillets, skinned
  • 1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced or pressed

Directions:
1. Combine olive oil and garlic.
2. Add salmon fillets and marinate for 5 to 10 minutes.
3. Broil or sauté to desired doneness.

Day 16 Detox & Cleanse

Welcome to Day 16!

“It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.” – Aristotle

With all of the diet trends and new health information constantly being presented to you, how do you know what to believe? Well, Google is your friend! Do not be afraid to challenge anything we have presented and research it for yourself. The findings we have presented to you and will continue to present to you over the coming days are the result of our intense research into optimal health through nutrition. We continually challenge the ‘norm’ to ensure that we do not simply believe the marketing of some pharmaceutical company, food manufacturer or even supposed ‘health agencies’. Thus, we encourage you to do the same. You should feel free to challenge things that do not instinctively sound or ‘feel’ right to you. Over the years we have found that when you discover the truth (for example the way we feel about whole food nutrition) it just resonates deep within you.

How Should I Feel Today?
You should continue to feel wonderful today. As always, if you have questions about something that is concerning you, please contact Dr. Heather Cardin at askdrheather.net

Weight Loss
Remember to limit your fruit, sweet potatoes and yam intake. As we have said numerous times, cruciferous vegetables are your best friends. Drinks lots of water, exercise and sweat! Perhaps you have lost some weight, but remember, you are not done losing weight on the program. If you have just begun to lose weight in the last several days, keep up the good work and you will continue to see positive results.

Reminders
Don’t forget our first 3 suggestions:
1. If you have an upcoming physical or are on medications you would like to possibly come off of, schedule an appointment with your doctor before you come off the program. Your test results will show vast improvement and this is your opportunity to put your best foot forward.
2.Plan to SLOWLY reintroduce foods into your diet. Don’t think that you can simply indulge on Day 22 and your body will comply.
3.Let your friends, family and co-workers know that this was not a diet. Inform them about the lifestyle changes you are making and you’ll be surprised how much support you will get!

Day 13 Detox & Cleanse

Detox & Cleanse Information, Uncategorizedon February 15, 2013Leave a Comment

Welcome to Day 13 – Almost 2 weeks down and 1 to go!

Congratulations! Two weeks down, one to go!

After having a meal, have you ever experienced symptoms such as fatigue, headaches, congestion, pounding heart and so on. These could all be indications of potential food allergies, along with other common symptoms including skin irritations such as rashes, hives, and eczema or gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, diarrhea and vomiting.

As your program draws to a conclusion, you are going to be reintroducing foods into your diet that you have not consumed in at least 2 weeks. This reintroduction, if performed properly, is the perfect time to identify food allergies you may have.

This leads us to our second recommendation for you (remember the first was making an appointment with your doctor in the next week). We recommended that you plan to SLOWLY reintroduce items into your diet. This is key, not just for identifying allergies, but also just to allow your body time to figure out how to process these foods properly. After 2 weeks of healthy eating and training your body to release toxins you do not want to shock your system with all kinds of ‘bad’ food and drink.

One purification program graduate went to a gathering the day after she completed the detox. Over the course of a few hours, she had several glasses of wine. At the end of the night she wondered exactly how much she had consumed, so after doing the math (3 people, 3 bottles) she realized that she had the equivalent of a whole bottle to herself. Although she is not allergic to red wine, within hours of drinking she developed a rash on both arms and her upper torso that lasted 2 days. Her body was not able to cope with that much alcohol after 3 weeks of healthy eating and zero alcohol.

We will detail a reintroduction plan in more detail over the coming week.

How Should I Feel Today?
You should be feeling excellent, as detailed yesterday. At this point (with 7 days to go) you should be starting to feel like your body can handle just about anything you throw at it. Well, as detailed in the introduction above, you want to be careful. Don’t get ahead of yourself. Stay focused and no cheating!

Weight Loss
Are you still avoiding those cravings? Getting your cravings under control while on the program will help you to carry on limiting those carb-heavy foods after Day 21.

Reminders
Don’t forget, ideally 50% or more of the vegetables you are consuming each day should be raw or lightly steamed.

  • Stir-Fried Tomatoes and Eggplant
  • 1 tablespoon Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Day 10 Detox & Cleanse

Detox & Cleanse Informationon February 12, 2013Leave a Comment

Welcome to Day 10 of the Detox! Is it getting easier now? Hang in there!

Congratulations! You are on the downhill side of your 21 days. As mentioned yesterday, if you are going to introduce lean protein into your program, today is the day!

Remember, the portions should be the size and depth of your palm. You can have up to two portions per day, if desired. Once you start eating meat again, you can reduce or eliminate the whey protein. As always, consult with your practitioner before changing your protocol. Also, remember to still eat plenty of vegetables (twice as many as fruits).

How Should I Feel Today?
You should be sleeping really well and for the most part feeling energetic. Many of your previous symptoms should now be gone.

Weight Loss
Have you been exercising? If not, remember that exercise is a key component of losing weight on the purification program. Unless you are older and/or have not been exercising, then it is recommended that you get a minimum of 20 to 30 minutes of exercise every day, up to 6 days per week.
Reminders
If you are introducing fish into your diet, remember, it should be deep-sea fish such as salmon, cod or sea bass. Also, you should avoid farm-raised fish. For more information on wild vs. farm-raised fish, check out this article.

Day 2 Detox & Cleanse

Detox & Cleanse Information, Uncategorizedon February 5, 2013Leave a Comment

Keep it going! We can do this!

Welcome to Day 2 of the Purification Program.

Question: “If you travel and are away from your blender what can you do to make your Truestar protein shakes?”

Here’s a tip for you…

Measure out the Truestar protein powder into a single snack bag for ease of transport.
Pick up a cold 16.9 or 20oz bottle of water (spring water if available) and drink half of it, leaving the remaining 8-10 ounces for your shake.
When you are ready for your shake, pour the contents of the snack bag into the water bottle. If you are worried about spilling, you can cut one corner of the bag, effectively creating a funnel.
Shake vigorously and enjoy!
How Should I Feel Today?

Today will likely be a continuation of Day 1.  If you are feeling a bit awkward and not 100%, this is not uncommon. Hang in there, as this should dissipate in a day or so. AND take it easy! Do not stress! You want your body to be relaxe while you cleanse.

If you have a coffee withdrawal headache, go back and look at our suggestion on Day 1 under “How should I be feeling today?”

Don’t be surprised if old symptoms you haven’t experienced in years begin to return during the program. They should be of short duration and are considered a beneficial sign that your body is purging toxins and repairing underlying issues with your health. Old injuries or conditions may resurface for anywhere from an hour to a day or more. This theory is known as Homotoxicology and was developed by a German medical doctor named Dr. Hans-Heinrich Reckeweg. If you would like to learn more about homotoxicology, we have assembled a short article for your reading.

http://www.purificationsupport.com/email/homotoxicology.pdf

In fact, one patient had an old wrist injury swell up during day two. The interesting point is that she broke it almost 30 years ago. There had been no swelling or problem of any kind noted in the 30 years since the original injury, however her body felt it necessary to bring heat, macrophages and other white blood cells in to perform long overdue repairs. The swelling went back down to normal after a couple days.

Weight Loss:

Your weight on the scale will vary a bit, but have no fear, this is completely normal. Don’t stress over whether you can see a difference on the scale yet. Remember to stick mostly with Cruciferous Vegetables and minimize your fruit intake. Not sure what Cruciferous Vegetables are? Check out this article on Wikipedia.org.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cruciferous_vegetables

Reminders:

Remember, don’t cheat… hang in there! Eating even a small amount of “unapproved food” can cause inflammation and slow down the results you will receive from this detoxification. If you are getting too fatigued, make sure you are eating frequently and then try increasing the amount of Truestar protein powder in your shakes. Also, as always, drink plenty of water. This will help clear toxins faster and avoid constipation.

Recipe of the Day:

Garlic-Chili Roasted Broccoli

Ingredients:

  • ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 6 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon grill seasoning blend or grill creations
  • 1 large head of broccoli, cut into thin long spears

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.

2. Place olive oil, garlic, chili powder and grill seasoning in the bottom of a large bowl and add the broccoli spears.

3. Coat broccoli evenly and place on a large nonstick baking sheet.

4. Roast broccoli until ends are crisp and brown and stalks are just tender, approximately 15 minutes.
Keep up the good work and No Cheating!

What if I have Questions?

Supplement Regimen for Day 2

1. Take 1 Package of TrueBasic (Men’s, Women’s, A/O, Yoga) with breakfast.

2. Days 1-7 take 2-3 Packages of True Detox & Cleanse between meals.
